Education and Clinical Work

As the principal psychotherapist and clinical supervisor at the Australian Centre for Embodied Practice (ACEP), Jake integrates attachment theory, mentalisation-based therapy (MBT) and embodied perspectives. He is a registered National Redress Counselling and Psychological Care (CPC) Provider for survivors of institutional child sexual abuse. Jake is also an active member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), and the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI).

Jake’s academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Ikon Institute, a Graduate Diploma of Psychology from Monash University, and he is currently completing a Master’s of Professional Psychology at the Australian National University (ANU). He holds certification in Comprehensive Attachment Repair. Jake is currently undergoing training in Mentalisation-Based Therapy for Personality Disorders at the Anna Freud Centre. His practice is further enriched by embodied approaches to psychotherapy, which emphasize the dynamic interplay of mind, body, and relationships.

In addition to his clinical work, Jake serves as a lecturer in the Bachelor of Counselling and Psychotherapy at Ikon Institute, where he wrote and teaches subjects such as Case Conceptualisation, Integrative Treatment Skills and Embodied Psychotherapy. Jake also serves as a tutor in the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) at the Australian National University.

Academia & Awards

In 2020, Jake was distinguished with the National Dr Rafael Locke Award for Clinical and Academic Excellence in Counselling and Psychotherapy upon graduating from the Ikon Institute. Currently, he serves as a lecturer and subject coordinator in the Bachelor of Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Ikon Institute, where he designs and delivers curriculum for courses such as Case Formulation, Embodied Psychotherapy, and Integrative Treatment Skills. Additionally, Jake is a sessional academic at the Australian National University (ANU), where demonstrates in the Bachelor of Psychology within the School of Medicine and Psychology.

Jake is also actively engaged in psychological research at the Precision Lab at ANU, focusing on depression, anxiety, and idiographic processes, further advancing the understanding of individualized therapeutic approaches.
