A weekly gathering around ideas with heart.
The Weekly Service runs a weekly curated secular gathering on Saturday mornings where people share stories, listen to music, pause for reflection and engage in conversation. The Weekly Service arose out of a broad acknowledgement that we are living through a time of significant change. We seek provide a space for dialogue and deeper discussion surrounding these shifts.
There are many ways in which we individually attempt to establish a sense of belonging, or work out what it means ‘to belong.’ Dance offers a medium to instil a deeper sense of connection to ourselves and others. It’s often quoted that in Shamanic cultures, dance, song and storytelling are a means to healing and belonging.
Jake Potter is an increasingly recognised and valued Open Floor dance teacher in Melbourne, leading many on their journey with dance. In this service, he is going to share his ‘wild initiation’ around expressive embodied dance as a tool for meeting vulnerable edges and finding a personal sense of belonging. For Jake, “Dance is a way, not the way.” He will share how he finds ongoing faith through his passion and ‘belief in the dance.’ We invite you to explore your personal relationship with dance.
